silicon for sump

Redoing my sump and took out baffals. I bought 100% multipurpose silicone, but it says "not for aquariums." Are they being extra safe or should I really not use this? if so, what should I use and how long does it have to dry?

I wouldn't use it - especially since it tells you right on there that it isn't safe for aquariums


You want 'Aquarium Silicone' - many LFS's carry it and you can usually get the larger tube in places like PETCO.


2 days would be a good rule of thumb for drying. It is also suggested that it is dry if it no longer has a smell (it smells like vinegar).
