Skimmer during Cycle

It's been so long since I've actually had to cycle a tank and it seems everyone's opinion is different regarding water changes & skimming during a cycle.

I added uncured LR to the tank which definitely kicked off my cycle (ammonia was 8.0 yesterday when I checked it) so here the question do you let the skimmer run during the process or leave it off? Some people say you leave it on with the lights off some say leave the skimmer and lights off.

Also, Some are saying to do large water changes during it but that makes me believe that id be slowing down the cycle with every water change I did. :scratch:

Leave the skimmer on its a must and leave the lights off dont do no water changes till the cycle over.

That's what I thought and have been doing.. It just seems every person has a different opinion on how the cycle should be done.

Uncured live rock I definetly suggest skimmer during cycle. If you had cured live rock in new water I'd say hold off for a while..
