Well if your corraline algae is blooming dont worry about it. Make sure your skimmer is not clogged, but if there is a high ratio of bubbles to water inside the chamber you are all set. If the bubbles are in lower quantities maybe there is a broken spoke on your prop. As for my experience I could never get the "special propeller" to work and as soon as i put in the old prop the skimmer worked GREAT. Maybe your problem is with the skimmer. Its all about the fine bubbles in the chamber.

One more aspect. You said you recently added RO water and buffers. Well those two things should take TONS of weight off your skimmer. The more pure water, and added Alk/Calcium, is helping all the benificial organisms thrive in your system. Just my take on it all from recent info.

tmc22,
What is this 'special propeller' that you have. Is it something that is 'new and improve' just came out? Thanks for your info by the way.

2 weeks ago, I bought an Kent RO unit and began using the RO water as make up water. I noticed my TurboFloter stop working. I used to clean the cup every 3 to 4 days, but now I don't even have to clean it after a week. Does anybody know what is causing this? I used to use the AP tap water purifier unit to filter the water. There could be one other thing that is causing this. I began to add Seachem Marine Buffer to the tank twice a week. The reason I was doing this was I noticed I was getting more coralline algea in the tank. Would the high alkalinity be causing the skimmer not to work?

The special propeller I am refering to comes with the TurboFlotor. It has many smaller blades as opposed to a few larger blades with more surface area which comes with rios ect.. The larger prop blades are meant to move more water and the idea behind the smaller blades is to chop up the bubbles into finer bubbles. Like I said I think the special prop is worthless or I got a bad prop. Did you get yours used if so maybe its already in the pump? It is a small black plastic peice(I think the older models had three seperate peices to attach) that is to replace the water pumps prop. Maybe you have it in the pump and a blade broke?
