Skimmer

I have a question in going to pick up a reef octopus skimmer 3000 ext this weekend {can't wait lol}. But anyway the ? Is can I turn a int skimmer into a ext if I change the pump on it

I do plumbing and don't see how you'd make a water tight connection where the pump slides in. Plus the skimmer is designed to sit in a range of water depth to operate. Guess you could fiddle and figure a way around those things but an external skimmer, even one that's designed to be, is a flood waiting to happen.

Ooh ok thank that's good to know. So the external skimmer is a waste of time and money basically thanks for the heads up.
