I just added a small piece of mushroom rock and while I was inspecting it while it was in the tank I noticed a bunch of small fry living in it and they had also moved under a small ledge of rock outside of the mushroom rock. I know this is nearly impossible to answer without having pics, but is it possible that they are there from when the rock was collected or is it possible that they could be baby fish from the LFS that I bought the rock from. There were a pair of Tomato Clowns and a few gobies in the coral tank where the mushroom rock came from. These little fry almost look like little gobies by the way the "hop" around and hang upside down on the undersides of the rock. It would be cool if they were fry from the store and they actually survive, but they will probably get eaten if they decide to leave the nooks and crannies of the rock.

I doubt that frye would have come with your mushroom rock, although it is a possibility. However, by the way they are acting, I would also doubt that they are actually fry, as they tend to be planktonic when they are younger and kind of float around, and I think if they were older and acting like you say, they would have been noticed. If they are, though, COOL!

Are you sure they are fish fry? See if you can get a close look.. my guess is that they could be mysis shrimp.

Your guesses are as good as mine, cause they are so damn small and transparent. I will see if I can get a close look and possibly get a picture if I can. If they are shrimp, is this good or a bad thing? I have read that shrimp that sometimes come in live rock, Mantis shrimp I think, are to be removed.

That would be my guess as well.
