Thanks!

Check out the Great White thread that's split between Thr Sump and General Reefkeeping.

Greg, what megapixel is the camera you're using? Does it shoot possibly in RAW or TIFF mode? I see a lot of 'artifacts' in the shots - something I get with both Olys when I shoot in super-high quality jpeg, even in good light. From what I understand (though I've not used either yet) RAW and TIFF modes will help to eliminate that.

These were all taken with an old Kodak DC210. Approx 5 or 6 years old. The megapixel is not listed, but it can't be more than 1 or 2 at the most given the age. There are no settings for different formats other than jpg. Hell, I'm lucky it let's me disable the flash. I had the wife's Nikon, but the battery crapped out before we even got in the aquarium. Now her camera can do all the fancy stuff. She's making noises about getting the new one which mean I will be inheriting her current one. Yeah!

I'll keep the RAW and TIFF info in mind for the future. Thanks!

TIFF is just another compression algorithm, similar to JPG. It results in somewhat larger files, but usually has a lower degree of loss.

RAW is just what it implies--the raw data from the sensor. If you take an image in raw, odds are your computer can't display it without sending it through an image editing program that can handle RAW files. Even up to Photoshop 7.0 you had to get a separate add-on to deal with RAW files, I believe. I'm pretty sure Photoshop CS comes with RAW converters built in. RAW images will result in the highest quality image (in terms of sharpness) you can get digitally, but they usually require extensive editing to balance color, tone, saturation, etc.

Somewhat larger? :P TIFF files are huge too me!

Anyhow, I was suppose to go to Monterey last weekend, but our volunteer driver decided he didn't want to drive. :) Thanks for the pics ..... next best thing!

Your welcome Len. I plan to go back and I'll give it another try. Hopfully the wife will let me borrow the Nikon again. If not the Kodak may be better next time. I just found that the resolution was set to low. DOH! I didn't know you had to set it. I'll get better, I promise.
