it probably just needed a bit more fiber in it's diet and was just constipated.

It isn't overly uncommon for them to expell zooxanthellae..here read a bit about it...

Simon provides some great info in his post especially about the size/type of the food we feed. You want to be careful not to overfeed them, or feed chunks of food too large like was done here...
