Hey guys I'm brand spanking new to reef aquariums...I love aquariums and so does my 6 yr old son...We're getting into this together, he loves aquariums and science so i figured why not make this a team project, he's really excited and so am I...I only have experience with freshwater in the past...If anyone can point me in the right direction on where to find and affordable tank and setup it would be highly appreciated...im look for a tank in the size range of a 55-65 gallon tank...all the advice would be appreciated

I would say do as much research as possible before you buy. Maybe visit a few members tank set ups or read build threads and figure what it is you would like to keep. Might save a lot of $ in the long run. Just don't rush into it.. Welcome to MR

check the market threads on here mr, you should find a tank and other used equipment their.

Welcome to MR. The one recommendation I'll make based on your post is to avoid at all costs (even if it's free) is a 55g tank. They are horribly difficult to aquascape. The footprint is not conducive to a reef setup.

A 40g breeder or a 65g are both infinitely better suited for a reef. If funds are available I'd suggest a 75g or a 90g.

Thanks to everyone...I've been getting a lot of help and advice as soon as I posted pretty cool club here...keep them coming I really appreciate it and @NYneefnoob lol I do ride a bike but I'm not a squid when it comes to that ..been riding 10 yrs now
