Starting over

So I'm starting all over again thanx to sandy.
I have a 80g I brought all new live sand about 5 bags.
I'm keeping all my rock it use to be live but it all died. I rinsed it and started filling my tank up with or/di water. So my question is should I run my skimmer and should I do a small water change in a week or so?
I haven't cycled a tank in a while

Run the skimmer + Weekly WC. Since the rock died, theres tons of crap on it. You could of rinsed some of it off, but most of it is embedded in the rock. You will most likely have an ammonia spike and cycle. Running the skimmer with take out some of that dissolved organic garbage. Weekly water changes will also be extremely beneficial. Skimmer + Weekly WC will definitely reduce your cycling time.
