Its been about 10-12 days the Bta has been in my tank and it still has not moved from the spot it found in the dark underneath a rock i can barely see it and was wondering if there is anything i can do to bring it out
Im not an expert by any means but this has happen to my bta... with many hours of pulling my hair out trying to find out what is wrong, i came to realize my alkalinity and calcium was off. My test kits where old and not reading right. Mine sat for two weeks in back of tank and started to loose color. Now everything in check he has come to the front and not looking good but deffinatly doing better. I would suggest checking everything once over. BTA will move to spots they are comfortable sometimes even move to a spot where there is no light.
It's hard to do but you should leave it alone. It will only move to where it is comfortable anyway if you move it. Anemone's need some time to settle in
anemones are nuts, they do all sorts of quirky things. Is it shrank up or does it seem to be expanding even though it is in the dark?
Feed a planktonic food to get it excited perhaps, but if it looks healthy, it may be splitting or it may be getting rid of waste or any number of behaviors.
I just picked up one last night, A greenish brown color. I typically do not like anenomes but I couldn't pass up. They guy had it for sale for 15 bucks in a frag tank and he didn't even know what it was. He kept calling it a mushroom. It is about 3"s across.
If it is inflated try feeding it. Smallish pieces of shrimp or scallops.
It should try to find light soon.
Also keep an eye in it's mouth, if it sags open all the time it may be on it's way out.
Also check all your parameters. ESP phosphates.
My gbta did the same and I got it eating and has been thriving and growing ever since. About 6 months now.
