I am planning on taking a trip to southern ca(I'm from sacramento) and i hear the fish store to see is jeff's exotic fish so I plan on stopping by. I was hoping to get some rock but because of the days that they are open i would have to get it on saturday, but I won't be back until monday.
So my question is..
If I completly submerged the rock in s/w in coolers for 2 days, would i get less die-off then ordering online with overnight shipping or more? And do you think it is worth the trouble?

if the rock is completely submerged, then you will not experience as much die-off as if you were to only cover it with wet newspaper.

therefore the answer to your question will be "yes".

For a 12 hour or less trip that would probably be true. A 2 day trip is another story, unless you are prepared to do water changes. The water will foul with ammonia very quickly and increase the die off tremendously. So for a trip that long without WCs you would be better off to keep it damp but not submerged in water.
