I'd like some opinions and suggestions on my stocking list. The tank is a 65 gallon display with a 20 gallon sump ( divided into a return, skimmer return and 'fuge with macro and more rock section ). There are about 50 lbs (dry) rock in the display and another 30-40 ( wet ) in the sump. There's a 4-6" sandbed in the display. I'd like to stick with smaller, peaceful fish so that I can give them room to behave naturally. Corals will be mostly softies and LPS. Right now I have two PJ cardinals in quarantine ( wanted three but the third one didnt look good ). I'm thinking of stocking as follows:

Pair of CB True percs or possibly ocellaris
Trio of PJ Cardinals
2x Jawfish and/or shrimp goby ( both compatible in my tank?)
Dwarf angel as centerpiece fish ( leaning towards Coral Beauty or Flame Angel )

The rest are open for discussion but I'm considering among the following:
Clown gobies ( are different colors separate species or just morphs?)
Zebra gobies
Purple firefish ( there's a hood )
Reefsafe wrasse ( leapords are nice )

So suggest away please.

Dwarf Angel may nip at corals. Keep that in mind.

As far as the others go I would say ok but the open for discussion fish might fight with the jawfish because they are of the same family and body shape. Wrasses can be touchy too, Leopards are not quite invert safe.

i love my canary wrasse.. he is really a cool fish, if i had a bigger tank i would consider stocking a few to see their interaction, im running a 30. check that one

my friend just got a purp firefish and he also has a cool personality.. IMO regular firefish tend to be very lethargic but his purp is really active and the colors are great. good choice here

Cheif- I am aware of the dwarf angel problem. I've been told that Coral and Flame angels are usually safer but I am hesitant nonetheless and it would be the last fish so I have to time to think about it. When you say jawfish are a problem because they have the same body shape - what fish are they a problem with? The shrimp goby? I was hoping to be able to keep both but if not, then I will decide which one. What wrasses do you recommend I look into?

The goby and firefish. Clown Goby like to sit on and irritate corals as well. I have had experience with all of the situations posted.

I have had Gobies fight because they were similar in body shape and were fighting over territory. 2 even fought to the death over a pistol shrimp. Clown goby sat on and killed a few lps and sps corals I had And a dwarf angel nipped at and killed my frogspawn.

I had a flame angel nip at and kill a brain coral on me, I wouldn't put any angels in the tank. In my experience its just a matter of time before they start to pick at corals.

Thanks for the link. I just read through the thread. Would a trio of flasher wrasse do well in my tank or is it too small?

Chief - If you had to go with the firefish or clown goby, which would you?
