I'm in the very early stages of thinking about a upgrade. Right now I got a 75 gallon mix reef. My planned up grade will be between 180 - 235 gallon DT. My question regarding the sump is to either have a External return pump or Internal return pump? I would like to know the pros and cons for a larger system.

External don't transfer as much heat to the water and are easier to work on

Internal tend to be cheaper but are usually louder and a little harder to work on

ok. I have a mag 7 internal pump now. It works fine but always a pain to clean the filter and maintenance. I was just curious becuase I see alot of videos of larger tanks that have external pump such as a iwaki.
