I have been jealous of the sand bottom tanks for long enough. I got some free sand courtesy of another reefer, thanks David AKA DCG1286, and I rinsed it and dumped into a 40 breeder I had as a Q tank.
I really liked how it looked in there and wanted it in my main but I was worried about disturbing the CC I had in there. I ended up getting tired of the crushed coral look in my 75 so I set about switching it out.

Today.

It took a while siphoning the upper layer of CC, I left about an inch. Then I vacuumed it before covering it with the finer sand. I love how it looks right now, really hope it stays that clear. I am doing this in two sections and I will wait for a couple weeks before I attempt the next section.

Thanks for looking,
