Tank Drilling in Northern NJ??

OK- I have made the decision that I might as well get my Oceanic tank drilled even if I don't go with a sump yet-- better now that its empty than once its full!

My plans are to get one hole drilled in the bottom center for the overflow box. Two holes drilled in the top left and right corners for the returns, and then four holes drilled- two on either side of the overflow- for a closed loop return.

My plan is to not have any equip in the tank itself- nice and clean

I think I can fit a 10g sump under the tank in the 37g stand- I just saw a 30g Oceanic cube w/ one, so I think it should work...

Questions:

1) How large should I get the holes drilled?

2) Any thoughts as to where I can take my tank to get drilled? I probably won't be doing this until late Aug.- but I thought I might as well plan it out now!

Alti owns a little store in hackensack, he's having a workshop on the 31st saturday, i believe they are going to be drilling tanks and showing ppl how to do it themselves. Might want to check it out

savager- what is that hole in the lower loft corner for?

Also- I thought that tanks were usually drilled for the overflow w/ the hole near the bottom and a durso stand pipe to stop the sucking noise?

I like that closed loop top! Think that would work w/ a full hood (well with no back...).

Ryan...you can do external durso's like the one I'm gonna do if the tank is drilled on the back.

When it comes to Nano tank, Oogie is the best. He lives in NJ. Maybe he'll come to that workshop. I couldn't go last time. Maybe I'll make it this one. If you need a ride to go there, let me know. If I go, I'll give you a ride.

I'm now thinking I will try the exact same thing- that would be sweet!

kris i'll have to talk to you about the overflow- i'm a little confused as to how it works i guess... always thought the hole needed to be at the bottom...but maybe near the top is better to prevent water loss to main tank due to power outages??

thinking of getting that acrylic lid done thats on oogies-- costs $100..

anyone here know if I can do that cheaper? I can't on my own- I would hav eto take it somewhere...

Hmmm. I like that too-- it would be nice not to have that lid on the tank for access...

any thoughts on if that would comprimise the integrity of the tank's back wall? Thats why the 1st tank went w/ the lid- so there wouldn't be as many holes in back...
