Tank Water Aeration

Does anyone do anything special to guarantee optimal oxygen levels in their tanks. especially when heavily stocked with fish? Do you think the use of a skimmer aerating the water is all a tank should need?

A sump below the display tank goes a long way towards aerating the water, as does a skimmer. Surface turbulence also helps.

How does the sump help? By providing more surface water exposure to the air?

Strong circulation throughout the tank with emphasis on surface agitation. Surface skimming also helps. Keeping the temperature a bit lower will help O2. Protein skimmers also and ozone.

I keep 30 fish in an 180g tied to an 102g with another 6 fish and I would tend to say that the by product of using ozone helps saturate the O2 in my system
