So with my tank being a new tank only running since the last week of December i never really had a use for a testing kit. A couple of weeks ago I had a few fish die out the blue on me. Granted, all the other fish are still doing fine. Now I'm noticing GHA popping up on some of my rocks. With that being said I think it's time to get a testing kit. What brand do you guys recommend and more importantly what should I be testing for?

with Algae you need to test for Nitrate and Phosphate. I like Salifert for Nitrate. I hear Red Sea and elos make decent Phosphate kits. I use a Hanna meter for Phosphate. You might want to look into Ammonia if you lost fish. Are you sure the tank was fully cycled before you put fish in? Did you recently put more fish in before you lost these? what size tank do you have? How many fish? what sort of filtration?
