For me, it is all summed up in a single photograph.
These are the children of a tribal collector couple.
I was told that the wife was the better collector of the two, but I think that was out of earshot of her husband...

They put clothes on the kids as soon as they realized there was a Westerner coming ashore...

My perspective is different, but the goal the same.

I want my customers to be able to buy with confidence, and to have long-term success. I also want to be able to buy with confidence, knowing that what I'm buying didn't destroy the reef, the sustainability of the reef, and the livlihood of those who live on the avails of the reef. Right now there is some doubt about that, but I'm making the best choices that are available to me at the moment, IMO.

If in turn, that makes life better for the fishers and their families, great.
