If you are feeling so charitable, why not take your fair share of the illegal immigrints and give them jobs, send them to school, and give them free medical care?

Jeremy, the same Job Programme is open to all foreign countries including the US.
I know that many Mexican and Philippino tradesman have come into Canada under that programme. They don't come as illegals. They are welcomed with their families as workers as of course most of them stay and apply for landed immigrant status.
A foreignor who enters Canada as a visitor cannot get a job as it is illegal for any business to hire them and they obviously can't register in school, get a driver's licence or apply for social assistance.
However if they get sick and need medical help, it is free to them.
That it is how it works up here and I don't mean to be offensive because it is none of my businees but IMO that it how it should work in the USA.

Canadians would not put up with paying the costs of education, medical care etc. for someone who choose to come here illegally. They would send them home.

How unsocialistic of you.
The only thing 'socialist' about Canada is the universal health care where medical bills of citizens who require care are virtually free. (There are nominal monthly payments)

Canadians don't look at medicare from a political aspect. They simply look at it as a responsibility of all Canadians through Federal Income tax to pay the health expenses of all those in need of health care whether rich or poor. The very rich can either go to private clinics or cross the border to US hospitals if they choose.

We can't comprehend a US health care system that refuses care or equal care or requires that a patient's or patient's family lose their life savings.

I watch CNN as I have an interest in US politics. It appears that both Clinton and Obama will bring in a system similar to Canada's.

It's great to hear that even in Canada the rich have options not available to the average person. Where are we supposed to go if they screw up our health care system? Mexico?

Nope, Canada. But non-residents have to pay but drugs, as you may know are much cheaper.

Wayne the reason many Canadians come to the US for treatment is the long waiting periods to get surgery and other procedures in Canada. The waiting period for many procedures is over 6-months in Canada and only two weeks in the United States. The quality is also better in the US. BTW the universal health care plans of both Clinton and Obama are very similar to the system Romney signed into law while governor of Massachusetts, and the system he also is promoting for the country in his bid to become president. Our system is badly broken, you get no argument from me on that, but your system is not without serious problems as well. Dr. Sanjay Gupta did a good CNN special explaining how the various systems work. No country on earth appears to have a perfect system. I suggest you watch it, so you will better understand how your system works for the less fortunate than you, in Canada.

A great discussion guys, but let's get back on topic. :D

We can move some of this thread into the Sump if y'all want to continue. I'm sure Wayne will get blasted down there by some of the heavy-hitters. ;)

Peace,

Chip

Funny enough that’s where a lot of older folks go to buy cheaper meds. Ever been to TJ? Pharmacies everywhere.

opps... back to topic.

I do have to agree that you should really look into freshwater and ponds. Saltwater sales can swing every week but freshwater seems to be very stable.

Yeah I agree about the getting into freshwater and ponds. Freshies are far less likely buy swordtails and mollies on the web.
