To skim or not to skim? From my experience, it's far nobler in the mind to use a skimmer than to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous pollutants. Take arms against them, my friend, and cease your sea of troubles.

I have the CSS and I quite like it; cheap and effective.

I do not like Corallife skimmers because there performance is inconsistent incomparison to higher end skimmers. I have used them on two systems where I worked, and did not like what I saw.

On the other systems that I worked on had Euro-Reefs and ASM's. Performance is excellent. The current place that I work at now has down draft skimmers, and those are good as well.

You get what you pay for. Its best for you to save your money, alittle here and there. Do not skimp on the BIG things in this hobby, you will regret them.

For under 200 I would rather have an Aqua C Urchin than a coralife skimmer. But if it were me I'd spend a little more and go with an ASM.

How big was your tank again?

ASMSkimmer.com has the G1X for $202 which should be enough for 55-75G. I have a 75G and spent the extra $40 and got the G3 which obviously does an extra ordinary job on my tank, since it can handle up to at least double the size of my tank. The bigger the better. And if (with the addiction of this hobby, I should say when ) I upgrade to a bigger tank (say 150G or 180G) I'll put my G3 on that tank and it'll serve me well.

AquaCs (http://www.proteinskimmer.com) are also great but will cost you a bit more. MarineDepot has some good prices on them though. I considered getting the EV120 ($340 with Mag 5) before I went with the ASM G3. The Urchin Pro ($225 with Mag 3) would have been the lowest skimmer from AquaC I would have gone with for my tank.
