New sponsor (Fritz Ind) is distributing the Teco line of chillers that I just took a glance at. The really interesting thing, if the specs are accurate, is how quiet these compressor-type chillers run: less then 40db, and a "quiet mode" that makes it a little quieter. If these are quieter then fans, it makes a nice cooling alternative for indoor use if you have the bankroll for a chiller :)

I need a chiller that will keep 65 gallons of water at 66º F, and do it quietly and efficiently. Quiet operation is key, as the tank is in the living room, and I don't want the TV or radio competing with the chiller noise. The T15 for that size and pulldown?

According to their specs, the T10 or T15 should do it. Of course, I have no first-hand experience to their pull-down power or the actual noise levels ;) I am waiting for someone to be a guinea pig first.

Heh. For a steep discount, I'll test it and write it up for RDO, no problem.

I called it first!

Len, are you going to MACNA and is RDO going to have a booth?

There ya go Clare, that's almost $100 off the T10 unit!

Still too pricy for my blood, but thank god I live in San Francisco and chillers are not a necessity.

Thanks for the links, guys!

I live in Connecticut, but the species of seahorse I keep are temperate. I need to keep the tank at 66 degrees F, so a chiller is a must, year round. The more powerful the chiller, the less it will actually be running, so I would go with the 1/5 to 1/4 HP for a 45 gallon tank with a 30 gallon sump to keep the temp low with minimum energy usage.

BTW, MACNA is too far in the future for me to think about yet ;) But I'm sure we will have a booth.
Well, if you're there, Len, the Seahorse posse will be having a party Friday night. Not sure of the theme ... IMAC is pirates ... maybe a pajama party again? Or a Luau? Enchantment Under the Sea? I'll let you know.
