I consider games like Quake and Doom to be the first online shooters.

I was playing Doom with my friend co-op via 14.4kps modems and a local BBS had a service to connect 4 players but it was paid. This would probably be the first MM team base shooter.

I tried Tribes but it got boring real fast, what I hate in Quake, Jedi Knight and other games was how people jump to avoid getting killed. I tried doing the same but you know that just got boring and showed no real skill. Trying to see how many consecutive kills while staying grounded was skill.

This game just made that worse but jumping so high up you don't even know what the hell killed you or where and how far out.

Wow, Tribes. Great times... the classes and vehicles made it one of the best games for its time. Ascend looks great, but doubt I'll get a chance to play it. Just a COD lemming nowadays
