So my mangroves in my sump have grown quite a bit since I got them and they are almost touching my LEDs. I'd like to shorten them up by cutting them At that top stump where the fresh branch and leaves start to grow.....my question is where should you really cut the plant if you want to try and root the trimming?...why just throw out the healthy trimmings when I can try and root them and give them away to you guys.....also I'm cleaning out some of the other plants in the sump today if anyone needs.......thanks for any help I tried to google but nothing on trimming and rerooting

i wonder if i can put some mangroves in my overflow?

Why not :) I've done it with pretty good results.

Reef,
I would cut right above the lowest two leaves, from that point you should get 2 branches or maybe more depending on vigorously they are growing. I wouldn't bother trying to root the cuttings, it'll probably need near ideal conditions and from what I've read it seems like one of those plants that just wont root.

I tried cutting above that fat stump where it then turns into a small stem and that didn't work outfor me it just turned black within a few days
