I know this is going to be a very general question, but is there any positive affect or negative affect on the tank/corals if I turn off my skimmer for a week or two.
I have a 75G soft coral reef with 3 medium size anemones, sump/refugim with media reactor, and another reactor with bio pellets.

u run bio pellets for 3 medium anemones , on 75 gal. tank ? why ? for sure don't
hurt to leave Skimmer on.

i also run pellets and my nitrates are getting close to 0, so i was thinking of shutting skimmer off for a few days and lower flow thru reactor. but don't know if it will help.

Sorry but I don't get your point, I had a 110G once but I down sized, so I just kept the same filtration setup for my 75G just with a smaller return pump, but with my 75G I feed my fish more & I will start with target feeding my corals because I?m looking to get better growth.

Make sure the tank is sufficiently aerated if your skimmer is off and biopellets are running. Increased bacteria will compete with your livestock for O2, without a skimmer performing gas exchange that could be a disaster if you're not supplying enough O2 with something like an airstone.

couple of things...
1. I've never lost a softie to high nitrates ( and i've had them in tanks with 80-100ppm),
2. if you run reactor without skimmer the crap will be put back into your tank.. so it's like not running it at all
3. if your skimmer is oversized and pulls everything out, this will also pull out natural food for the softies.
