I have red slime in my reef tank and im thinking about dosing it with ultralife red slime remover. Ive used this product in a fish only tank and all red slime was gone the next day. Im not sure if i want to use it in my reef tank though as i have alot of corals, clams, feather dusters ect. Does anyone have any experience with this in a reef?

The Red Slime Remover will not effect your livestock (ie corals clams etc), however, it is a anti-biotic. So in turn you will be effecting the beneficial bacteria in your system.

Red Slime is a tough one to get rid off, but, by decreasing nutrient input, water changes, and siphoning out as much as possible, it is a doable task.

A slow and sometimes painful task, but it is possible. I would only recommend red slime remover for Fish Only tanks.

I have used it in other tanks before. if you do use it, make sure you have a power head pulling meg amounts of air into the tank, Shut off your skimmer (skimmer will go nuts), and run carbon 24 hours after the first dose. it does work, but it is only worth it if you are totally fed up and have tried all other remedies!!! After using, you will have problems with beneficial bacteria... Just be ready for a cycle and a lot of water changes...

Good luck if you decide to use it. It is a last ditch effort in a reef tank...
