Shaun,

Double check the bottom of the tank where ther derasa lied - they can sometimes cause pressure cracks in the bottoms of the smaller tanks - happened to me and the sand bed kep the tank from leaking believe it or not - when I took everything apart, I was like "whao, how the FCUK didn't that leak"

So, double check the bottom for a crack.

Good luck with it.

Skimmer air-intakes will shoot water out due to back siphoning if the waterleverl is located higher than the air intake of the venturis. This is particulary the case in gravityfed skimmers during a power outage where the return pumps continue to flow and the skimmer pumps are off.

The same can go for other devices such as certain dosers (aquamedic)...

Has the mystery been solved?
Yeah, it looks like it.

I think I either lost power last night to my main pump or it stopped due to Ca buildup on the impeller. For whatever reason, when it stopped my main tank drained into my sump causing it to overflow. Somehow the pump restarted leaving me with 1 gallon less water in the tank. How I was able to loose so much water is a problem, and I need to re-do my plumbing.

I cleaned the main pump, it really need it, so I think that this may be the cause (dirty). I also lowered my sump by half, so it shouldn't happen again.

Yesterday sucked, though about retiring AGAIN, since listening to my neighbor complain was almost the final straw. Today I feel a little better, but the ironic thing is my tank never looked so good.

THANKS TO ALL MY MR BUDDIES for replying to this thread. I really needed your level heads since I almost tore my tank apart unnecessarily.

Glad you figured it out and didn't resort to unwarranted drastic measures.

Regarding neighbor complaints isn't that what Co-ops are all about--- trashing each other's apartments and arguing about it? At least that is my wife's experience with her co-op.

Relaxing hobby isn't it?

1 gallon of water wrecked your neighbors apt ???? Wow... I drained almost 17 gallons onto my floor 2 months ago for the 4th or 5th time in a year....

Glad I live in a concrete slab apt. Stick with the hobby and the tequila ;)

Hey Kasei!!

My neighbors love to ***** and complain. Some water dropped on his table from above through a light fixture causing the onslaught. If I drained 17 gallons, ..........I would be forced towards :skull: or :fishhit: .........just to get him off my back.
