vacation.... YIKES!

i have been a bad reef keeper... i have been more or less neglecting my tank. not to say i havn't been keeping up with husbantry, i have been doing it very methodically and not enjoying it. i am now seeing the results of my recent lack in watching my tank...

that being said, i just read the other post "fish deaths" and i am about to head off for a six day trip, the longest i have been away from my tank. i am going to do my normal 2nd week 5 gallon change, clean the skimmer, feed a lot thursday, feed more friday after work, and i have someone who can come in on sunday night to feed and top off. i figure i will add some micro-vert and buffer to the very full gallon of water. i will be back with the tank on thursday.

what am i missing?

i feel i am missing something.

I am on vacation as well for 7 days. I have auto top off so that is what I am worried about over filling. I did the same as you did with the rest. Other than that I think you have covered it. Good luck.

at least i now have the comfort of knowing that the tank is insured!

I too am going away. But I am going for nine days. I am more worried that the auto top off is going to run OUT of water. I am evaporating a lot of water lately. I have someone checking on the tank, but she is no expert, heck, not even a novice.

I've come to the realization that I cannot worry about such things anymore. I can only do my best to prevent it.

One of the benifits of being involved in the local reef club is usually you can get a person with reef experience to check on the tank while you are gone.
