Anyone ever use one of these skimmers? Are they any good? Is it worth buying one?

Never heard of one. Do you have a like to the specs. Also, what size tank are you planning.

I have a 30ga tank. I have a red sea prism which is nothing to brag about and I want something better. Additionally, my seal went bad and had to get another and just tired of the sucker.

Just wanted some advice. Really want a remora, just can't afford one right now.

Thanks for your insight Mark.

I still have not heard of one, but I would go with the advice of SE and save your money and get a known good skimmer. If you skimp now you will end up buying the good one later.

I'm actually surprised they're even still making these. They're a relic of the early 90's, and weren't any good even back then 8O

Skimmers never age, just the pumps powering them. Buy one used and switch the pump out. Its gonna get dirty jsut like a new one will anyways.

cjd was refering to the design, which applies to a brand new Visi-jet of the same model.

Rereading fishaddict's reply, I realized that I might have misunderstood him. I feel he is absolutely correct in his point that you may consider buying a well-designed, but used skimmer to save money. You can get a pretty decent skimmer for about $100, for example.

I have decided to try and tackle a sump. I have a 10 ga aquarium and i'm going to attempt to modify if to make me a sump. With you guy's help of course.

Checked out melevsreef.com and it doesn't seem to difficult.

Thanks for all your advice and yes I will probably purchase a used one somewhere.
