i went to pike county illinois for a great hunting expierience this week and id have to tell you WOW.i should have been born in the midwest.the fields of corn and the stars at night was amazing.its is amazing what a different life it is out in the midwest.the amount of wildlife is truly a thing to see.i saw hundreds of deer ,turkey.coyotes and even saw 2 bald eagles.and the way people treat u over there was if they knew u for years.if anyone wants to expierience the country way of life i would say visit illinois.

Duke, I am glad you enjoyed your midwest experience. Us midwesterners get made fun of all the time, but we don't mind so much because we get to enjoy of all the things you mentioned above.

I remember sleeping out on the porch as a kid and seeing a shooting star light a path from one horizon to the other. When a full moon reflects off the snow it's so bright that you can walk around like it's daytime. Whenever I step in snow here, I expect it to make that icy crunch groan noise that it makes back home but it never does. (Considering how cold it is there already, maybe that is not so bad!

You will love this - my totally cute, girly girl cousin was out hunting today with our grandfather. The girl has both the best shoe collection and the best hunting blind in Michigan.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed the midwest. If you ever want to arrange a hunting tour in Michigan, I'll see if my cousin can set it up

P.S. if you kill it, you have to eat it!

OMG, I have no manners since I moved to NY!!! When we go back home, I am sure my mom is ashamed of me because I don't take the time to ask how people are before I ask directions, ask for more coffee, pay for gas at the station, etc...

well i was talking to my wife and if my back does not hold up that is where i will be moving.i looked on real estae for houses and i cannot believe the prices for homes there.im even thinking of getting a summer home there if the market gets any better

I don't know about Indiana and Ohio, but unemployment in MI is the highest in the country. Nice place to retire. Not so nice if you want to make a living.

And yeah, I have turned into one of them. It makes me a little crazy that it takes my mom 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee - especially first thing in the morning
