I am going to be setting up my 156 Oceanic tank soon. It has 2 overflow boxes and measures 60"L x 24"D x 25"H. I have a head footage of about 5 ft from the 40 breeder sump below in the stand. I want a pump that is good enough to supply good flow through the return lines and also to plumb in 2 reactors. I am looking for a external pump that is reliable and consumes low wattage. What are some recommendations on a pump I can use? I was thinking of the blueline hd70 but it uses 290 watts. I have also been looking at some reeflo pumps that use less power. What do you all recommend? Thank you

Never had a problem with the Blueline 70HD or the 100HD... excellent PRP. Panworlds are good also. Take your time, compare all the ones you like then make a(N) informed decision based on the info you gathered.

Your application does not call for a pressure rated pump (distance or resistance) so your already in a good position for pumps that consume lower electricity. The Blue Line sounds like an over kill for your setup, I only used an 40 HD to return flow from a basement up to a 180g one floor above.
Look into a Snapper, they are about 2500 gph at 0' so if you plumb a manifold with 2 returns and 2 reactors, you'll probably get 500 to 600 gph off 2 returns and enough to tee off for media reactors. Don't forget if your using 3/4" returns such as Sea Swirls or Wavy Seas, they max out at 800 gph at 3/4" sized outlets. Snapper is 1/3rd of the wattage compared to the 70 HD.
