"best" skimmer is hard to define these days. But there are many great skimmers. One small powerhouse that I have seen in action without breaking the bank is the small I-Tech. Im sure others will chime in with their recomendations.....Good Luck...

I have a Sapphire BC29R for my BC29, works perfectly. Email Sapphire support, their support is usually on the ball. Heard others have success with Tunze 9002, some even run In-Tanks' mediabasket with the 9002.

Tunze 9002 is a great choice, especially if you want quiet. I used one of those for a while and really liked it. Also, I have heard good things about the Euro Reef Nano skimmer. They make the skimmers custom sized to your tank.

i have a tunze 9002 and it have no given me enough justice...skims too wet and not too consistent...(i have a constant water level)
i seen sapphire came out with new designed skimmers ...or you can give a HOB skimmer a chance..since you have a sapphire skimmer ..contact them and see if they can replace some parts to make it more efficient...could be a pump problem or a impeller problem

I third... or err... fourth the Tunze 9002. The new model with the magnet is AWESOME. Yea it kind of sucks in the beginning because you have to play with the blue knob. but it is dead silent.
