I have a 70 gallon tank with a 15 gallon sump that I will be setting up soon. The sump has 3 chambers and I want to put a protein skimmer in the first, and a refugium in the second. The 3rd feeds the return pump.
The problem is that the first chamber of the sump has a 10.5 x 6 inch footprint before the first baffle wall. I am having a hard time finding a skimmer that will fit into that footprint.
Another option that I have thought about, but don't want to go there if possible is since the sump and baffles are acrylic, to somehow cut out the first wall of the first baffle and move it over an inch or so to make the footprint about 10.5 x 7 or so. However, cutting the acrylic in such a tight space would not be fun and I would like to avoid it if possible.
Any ideas?
