What tang to add with an established yellow tang?

Hippo with an established yellow.... Adding fish is a risk no matter what but if your yellow isn't too territorial with new fish I wouldn't worry so much. They are different families, aren't the same shape nor colors. Best bet with tangs is to either add much smaller or much larger or multiples. The closer in size the more competition and the more your established fish will see the new one as a threat. Unfortunately nothing is gaurenteed with fish behavior in this hobby.

+1 added the same size powder blue as my yellow tang the other day and they love eachother.. Guess I'm. Lucky

put in a lot smaller or a lot bigger and maybe adding 2 tangs might keep him busy alternating on which one to bully, but be carefull tangs get ick pretty easaly when stressed out

Hey everyone, I should of been more specific, Im thinking of adding a blue hippo tang. I assume the yellow tang is about 3-4 inches. So Im trying to get my hands on one about 5 inches.

I wouldn't worry about adding a Hippo Tang with a Yellow Tang, as most other Tangs will leave the Hippo alone, though some Hippo can be aggressive themselves. Just try and stay away from the really small ones, Nickel size, as they can do hard to keep alive.
