What the !@#$ did I just see?

I was doing maintenance on my reef: kicking up some sand, moving a few rocks and corals around, etc... All of a sudden as if on cue, bright pink bristle worms came out of their holes one- by-one and ejected a pinkish-red substance into the water. Any ideas? Crazy stuff! They just kept popping up and ejecting this stuff

Wild color pink isn't it?
Not uncommon for them to spawn after a water change..later at night (usually) after the lights are out.
