You need to make sure that he gets lots and lots of plant matter. This can come from Macroalgae, Sea Veggies, Nori or a high quality food like New Life Spectrum. I feed mine a small piece of Sea Veggies or Nori rubber-banded to a rock and I drop it in. This way he can snack on it all day long (as tangs do in the wild.) You tang will loose his color and develop head an lateral line disease if he gets malnourished. That's why I supplement the veggies with New Life Spectrum. Just to make sure he's got all his vitamins and minerals.

can i take the dried seaweed and put it in the cup with the brine shrimp and let it soak, break it into small pieces, and toss it in the tank with the brine shrimp?

I'd stay away from Romain if you can help it, lots of people use it but anything terrestrial really shouldn't go in your tank. Romain is a fresh water land plant. The nutritional value of anything freshwater or land based is off compared to ocean life. Nori can be purchased at a health food store for about $4 for 4 sheets which will last you a long while. I also wouldn't break it up as that can lead to uneaten nori which will give you nuisance algae problems. Sea Veggies are also very cheap and will last you a very long time. Frozen food is always good but can lead to cyano and hair algae problems if not heavily rinsed. Stay away from any frozen food that thaws into a "blob" or is gelatinous as that will also give you problems. I grow some Cheato in my main tank and my tang snacks on it all day long.

Brine shrimp isn't what it needs so don't feed it that. Get Formular I & II and Spirulina Flake. Also Nori and Romaine Lettuce, freeze it some what first.

mikes real deal info...i feed mine home made, which includes aspecs of both replies, and my PBT always looks awesome and healthy...(no crack fish anymore Rich...)

A lot of people add garlic to their foods. Can any garlic extract be added? Is there a particular brand that people like? How much should be used?
