What to use as a lure?

I have a neon dottyback that is about 4" long that has begun terrorizing and killing all of my fish. He lurks in the rockwork and is impossible to get out without ripping everything apart. I bought the acrylic fish trap but, of course, every other fish goes in but him. I tried putting different foods in the trap but everybody else eats the food before he even works up the courage to go in. Now I am trying a different tack - I bought a tea strainer (one of those metal balls with the holes drilled in it) so that I can put some food inside itthat the fish can't get to but will attract them with the smell. What do you suggest I use as bait? Anyone, anyone....

good luck, those are some mean fish, and hard to catch!

I would try different shrimp, mysis, etc, that should entice him.

cocktail shrimp works good. or if you want it to go higher end, scallops or clams too.

If I use cocktail shrimp. is there a two-drink minimum? And, if so, is that for me or the dottyback? Inquiring minds want to know!

Hey Eric goodluck.Don't feed for a couple of days and then try with the trap.It's worked for me. I felt bad for the other fish but hey it worked.

as stated dont feed tank and it's a wait period, i use a gatoraide bottle with fishing string tied around it, lay it on it's side and wait

Use a small live fish( low dollar) with a false clear wall in the trap so it stays alive, and put it in his territory.
It may take a day or so.
