Ok its time to purchase a skimmer for my 55 gallon I would like to purchase a skimmer that is a hang on tank but would be able to move it to a sump eventually. What should I get and where should I get it ?

i say skip the hang-oh and make sump right away. The hang-on skimmers are usually crap. I wanted to go your route on my 55 as well, but bit the bullet and went all the way first time around.

From every forum I have read it seems hang-on skimmers are a hit or miss so I would agree with metalac to skip it and go sump instead.

I have I guess what one would consider to be a micro-sump. It is a small 20-gal tank with very little room.

I have a 46gal tank and I was toying with either the AquaC Urhin or the Euroreef RC 80.

While the euroreef can fit width and length wise the height was a bit of an issue so I just purchased the AquaC urchin.

From what I have read the urchin is the in-sump version of the hang-on remora.

I can give you a more quantitative review of it once it comes in sometime this week

ok, doing this right the first time is probably easier than trying to do everything twice Ill go straight for the sump. Any suggestions for in sump skimmers...I am more than likely going to use a 20 gallon tank
