You get the added benefit of Resins in the media which can work great for phosphate or nutrient control depending on the exact formula you choose. They are also conveniently packaged for you right out of the can so it saves you some time during maintenance. Chemi-Pure has also formulated each type of Chemi-Pure to provide the optimal ratio of media for the best results inside your aquarium.

You also want to look at the quality of the GFO and Carbon you are using as not all are created equal.

which Chemi pure blue size should I get for my Nuvo 20? 11oz 6 pack or go smaller?

Personally, I love the Nano Packets which are probably your best option for a tank this size. Each packet treats 5 gallons of water for up to 6 months. You can just utilize x2 packets at a time and change them out sooner if you desire. I use two packets per month in our little Nuvo Peninsula 20 here at the office.
