well i am using quite one 4000 2 each total 2000 gal+ for my 150 gal tank the pump make huming noise when tv is off it realy bother my wife and my kids so i am looking for very quite one silance
Eheim 1262, but you need to remember, these pumps are electrical motors, with a moving part, moving water. Totally silent is not an easy goal to reach, especially when you're turning off all other 'white' noise and basically putting your ear to the sump. Your expectations seem really lofty.
A lot of things play a major roll in removing the hum/noise of a return pump..
Are you running pure pvc? any tubing?
I run the Eheim 1260 externally with tubing and it is literally silent. My tank is in my room and couldn't have it any other way. You can barely hear it running. I removed the bottom mounting plate and have it basically floating in the air. I put some foam [window air conditioner trim from christmas tree shops for like 1$]
The 1262 may create a little more noise then what my tank is making because of the increased power but know that its possible to have them running pretty much silent with a little fooling around and planning...
i do have pvc pipe in return and from pump to tank nylon tubing on 150 gal tank with 55 gal refugim
my 90 gal flower tank i started new with 29 gal refugim with little one quite one 3000 and put some filter sponge under it and all the way pvc pipe they both almost sound same.
Velocity pumps are the quietest external magnetic pump you will get but the payoff is added heat to your water column since this is how it transfers heat produced from the pump. Users experience 4 to 6 degrees increase.
