If they are on the bottom (or dark side) of the rocks, 99.9% they are sponges. Sponges are filter feeders and eat very minute particles from the water column. They are good to have in your tank...as long as there aren't bazllions of them, which would mean you have pretty dirty water.

The description sounds like a sponge. Although, I have lots of sponges, I think they're a good thing. They clean your water for you. :)
I actually tried to collect as many different colored sponges and put them into my tank, adds color to the dark side of rocks where it would normally be boring.

good to know never had a sponge in my tank before it's exciting heh

only 3 rocks have them they are small right now I wonder if they'll take on color later on

Usually they stay they color you first see. You may well have more in there that are too small to see right now, just give it more time and they will grow.

I have a beautiful bright yellow one growing in one of my tanks right now. :)
