I have a Purple Tang with one small (size of a pinhead) white spot on it's body right behind one of it's pectoral fins. All water parameters etc. are normal. Fish is eating like a pig (normal), swimming and breathing well...any ideas as to what this is?

This is a 55gal healthy reef tank w/ MH & actinic lighting.

Thanks!

How long have you had it? Tangs often get ick when stressed. They usually kick the ick once the stress is gone.

I have had it about 1 yr. The Tang has had ich before. This looks nothing like the ich it has had. This is one large (compared to ich) spot, not many very small ones like ich.

Will the Tang ever rest?!?

As best I can tell it is not a growth. In other words, it seems to be an acute discoloration rather than something that is attached to the fishes coat. It is not getting any bigger.

I was gone for 4 days when it appeared, so I do not know if it has been any smaller than it is now. It is still the size of a pinhead.
