Great, thanks Rove. And remember, sometimes it's those threads that wander that become the most entertaining, if not educational as well.

In other words, sometimes we need time to get around to asking the right question, yeah? ;)

No,
Its just amusing to me that every little trade secret or inside business info is public domain now and the often unnamed poster has the right to ask any question imagineable. Some even post divers prices, exporters prices etc.
How many trades can you do this in?
I import from Imperial. They are a netcaught exporter. I am working with them on some fundamental fish quality problems and policy protocols. I spend thousands of dollars with them. If everything I do can become public, why would I want to invest in them and help them just to have anyone try and steal them away?
Is every business dealing the right of the public to know? Do you know how many wanna be e-tailer types and garage operations follow and try and steal connections that take blood, sweat and tears to develop?
I have had about 12 important connections stolen from me already so forgive me for wondering how any Tom ,Dick and Harry can get his nose in to anything these days.
Sincerely, Steve

well, thanks for the information. i didn't know that it was a trade secret. i saw the company name listed publiically, maybe you had better talkto your partners about security leaks... i i tried to post here a week or so back but the thread was locked? good thing i came back now that the thread is unlocked....

steve, aren't you the net training guy? so based on your reply am i to assume that every person you go and train (with hobbist netting, no less) will become your private contact?

by the way i was p.m.'ed and asked to "ceas and desist" regarding this topic by members of rdo. is this the dirty little way you folks play the game? some things are allowed to become public and some things are swept under the rug?

you know if i had just got an honest answer wiithout all of the crap this would not have been an issue.

insincerly,
don

To date, there has been zero trainings with hobbist netting, the first drive just ended  . Steve didn't train Imperils collectors, although some might have been years ago.

Dear shoe shine boy,
If you're a hobbyist that must work hard shining shoes for a living [and maintain his aquarium with] I'm sorry.
Some E-tailers have been trying to break thru the ranks and hijack what they can and ruin the chain of responsibility on what little good, netcaught fish there are available...thats all.
There are netcaught fish available everyday from a few all netcaught importers. No one is trying to hide anything. In fact, they are trying hard to make sales today. This is not easy at all.
Selling netcaught only is hardly a thing to covet. It is in fact a huge handicap. Customers insist on cyanide based variety and cyanide based cheapness afforded by the cyanide supplys economy of scale.
Losing what clean supply there is to the bigger cyanide fish dealers allows them to be mixed together, ruining the achievement.
Can you not see a reason to keep them seperate?
We're here all day [ Cortez Marine] as a business trying to sell fish to bonafide storefront retailers. Thats a normal, wholesale business.
As far as training initiatives go...thats a totally different vehicle. A non profit organization called CORL or AMDA and it cooperates with entities in the Philippines to fund and support net training.
Expertise in net training comes from handling and collecting fish for a living, not from a theory or a clumsy attempt to figure it out. There will never be good commercial trainers who do not come from the ranks of the working class production end as far as I'm concerned.
In fact, a huge part of the last decades failures have been on account of this very fact....theoretical, environmental, philosophical notions failing to mesh well with commercial fishery production realities.
But thats another thread...

Sincerely, Steve

Jeez this thread went downhill...

Sardonic, Chill. The truth is as I presented to you. They are not ready yet.
The truth is as simple as that. Let them get to the point where they are making regular shipments, and those shipments are all going perfect.
Then they will be ready for prime time. Until then, let Steve work with them to give them the needed feedback and get the basics down properly first.

Gresham,
I think this is a bit incorrect. Trainings, I believe, took place with the netting I sent over to Ferdie with John Brandt. However, concerning the just ended fund drive, you are correct in that no trainings have occurred with it yet.

Regards.

Am I the only one who has a problem with these kinds of tactics? Or is there something missing to the story?

Lets get something cleared up now for the record.

Sard, everybody a PM is a Private Message.
Private means private and private it must stay.
It is unethical to post any part of a PM with out the express consent of the sender of that message.

LOL anybody who puts something in text and doesn't consider that it might be passed around.... well, they need a new optician 8O

If one is worried about a message biting them in the hiney, they'd best not type it out or write it down.

Guy with out permit + any live animal = jail, prison, navy, customs, fisheries, fedrales and local police

villages with permits = legal trade
above villages collecting "big orange fish" = legal trade

Big orange fish not legal for capture in California, though. Its out state fish  .

Not hard, but far from the subject of this tired thread.

Ps. what nachos, Kalk? maybe, "not yours, beat it punk before I make you my b+tch"
