So who is set to take a worse hit if things really hit the fan? Is MO gets shut down, I'll just convert all my tanks to fresh. :?:

Easy. Those like myself, SDC, Quality, et al. who specialize in Marine Livestock only. Maybe Rob Miller is smarter than most people give him credit for because he is now adding Freshwater to his line up. How about that for a conspiracy theory Mitch?

Manufacturers come next.

It wouldn't even make an interesting footnote in the MAMTI Manifesto. I agree with Glenn that converting to fresh is prolly the best plan.

That being said, what are the wholesalers doing to protect their business investments and to ensure the viability of their longterm goals? Where is the wholesaler lobbying arm? Or are you all planning on fighting tooth and nail down to the last fish? Seems those with the most to lose, should be leading the charge.

Actually, we all have a lot to lose. This crap about how one part of the industry should lead the charge or one part should organize and to hell with the rest of the industry is so LAME. If everyone would work together, we could create change. We all have something unique and different to contribute- information and experience that will be critical to facing future challenges. There's finally something we can all agree on- wholesalers, retailers, manufacturers. This bill is BAD for business. This could be the impetus to finally get everyone off their butts and rally behind a cause. But no one wants to. AMDA is the only organization out there that currently exists that could be used. But the whole "me me me" mentality of the people running it prevents any industry unity. Why don't you guys understand the fact that we all fit together in this puzzle? Without the wholesalers, the retailers have nothing. Without the retailers, the wholesalers have nothing. Without the manufacturers, we both have nothing. In light of the recent legislation, if AMDA decides to go this "only retailers need apply" route, then they'll be shooting themselves in the foot.

Esteemed colleagues,
Hi Folks,
I just got a letter from Rep Case. He said the bill is not coming up and will be resubmitted next year.
Does that need to be repeated in BOLD letters?
By the way...where did the 'ME, ME, ME"....thing come from?
Just because we wouldn't sell out AMDA this year and will not allow it for the coming year doesn't mean its self centered.
Thats more likely to describe bitter dealers who wanted to use it as their own business chain...for those trying to coerce everyone to buy from them and for those frustrated and angry that their corrupt little scheme didn't work out.
There is however a soul searching going on and a lot of effort into forging a consensus on a better way to effect reforms in the trade.
Anyone in the organization can find out anything they want...its one of the main the points of joining an organization...[ resists putting a 'duh' here}
I also noticed that in MACNA...they excluded people...who didn't register. How dare they not service the people who wouldn't join...for free and on demand.
A lot of this phoney posturing of people w/ false memories of their 'good times' in AMDA are exactly that. Its not a drinking club or a social club anymore. Sorry for the people who yearn for those good ol days.

It comes from Mitch continually stating that AMDA should only be for retailers and any other marinelife dealer should be excluded.

In the past, anyone anywhere could at least read the BOD minutes and the newsletter and get a general feel of what's going on. That's what I was commenting on. Of course, I do understand that most of the current BOD doesn't even have a clue as to what is on their own organizations website.

Before commenting on this, I would like to know who it is directed to.

Mary you left AMDA. AMDA didn't leave you. The average wholesaler has no future in the industry. It isn't my idea, but simply the way it is. Perhaps the retailers can save themselves. You're dead man walking.

If the wholesalers are dead man walking, then so is the marine portion of the industry. If you truly believe that to be the case, then you need to change AMDA's name to AFDA. (F is for freshwater, although I could think of a few other appropriate words.)

Didn't shoot ya, Mitch. Just pointed out a fact. If the demise of the MO industry is right around the corner, why bother to even have an AMDA? Should you just set up a retailer's association to teach people the fine nuiances of keeping FW?
