So, why do so many people supplemet with actinic lighting when it seems like they have completely sufficient metal halide lighting already? I currently have 15K 250W metal halide and I think additional actinics would be too blue.
i use my actinics for dawn and dusk simulation. i don't run them full time. the lights just overlap each other by about an hour. we'll see how the new tank looks with the lumenarc mini's though.
Like X I run my actinics for a dawn and dusk stup up and down. But also I run 10k bulbs so the actinics shift the color from a slight tint of yellow to a slight tint of blue.

For a decent dusk/dawn setup with actinics what would you suggest? I run 2 250W MH for a 10 hour period per day. I would love to widen the window that there is some type of light on the tank.
