Why did my lights go out?

So I was trying to get my sixline wrasse out of my overflow box and out of nowhere my 2x175w metal halides turn off when they were supposed to turn off in 4 hours. I tried to plug it into a regular outlet and nothing. So now I'm waiting until I can figure out what to do. What happened and why did it turn off???

Did you allow enough time for them to cool before plugging them into a regular outlet? Many metal halide bulbs won't relight when hot.

Nvrmind I got them running again. They just needed some time to cool off.

I wired a light switch for my metal halides into the wiring when I first got them and I think I accidently hit the switch which caused them to turn off.
