Silence is golden because it kills debate.
...Dead debate means programs aren't evaluated.
......Unevaluated programs look good and continue to attract funding.
..........Renewed funding is the gold that keeps NGOs in business while fish and fishers flounder.
MAC, I salute you for your strategic decision vis a vis maintaining a wall of silence on this board and in correspondance sent to you by parties not toeing the party line.
By refusing to communicate, you minimise your exposure and leave one with the same old tired questions .... month after month. It is just so damn difficult to obtain sufficiently clear information on certification activities that one can frame questions (just your bad luck that I actually worked in Batasan). One is left shadow boxing ... even as the reefs become a shadow of themselves
Honestly, how many times can I ask "have there been any resource assessments done on certified collection grounds prior to claims of 'sustainable collection' " before even my most tolerant of forum colleagues starts to yawn?
By refusing to communicate, you also ensure your club stays members only, the criteria for membership apparently being a willingness to accept certification without demonstrable sustainability. No need for new ideas or constructive advice from outsiders. Your gang of foxes has the golden goose in hand (or 'round the neck perhaps).
So well done! I have no doubt your golden funding cycle will continue until the question of a sustainable marine aquarium trade is moot.
Best wishes for a busy and successful New Year.
