I'm getting ready to start moving things over to my new tank. But before I do, I'd like to nuke the flatworms. I have a couple of bottles of FwE sitting here at the ready.

My question is about my clams. Last time I FWE'd the tank they didn't look too happy. So i'm thinking about a 15 minute freshwater dip, then they go into the new tank.

Then I nuke the planaria in the 20 gallon before anything else moves over to the 58.

Good Idea?

The fw dip should at least cause the FW's to 'jump ship'. I'd definitely do it if you have a known case of FW's.

About 3 years ago I had an outbreak of FW's in my personal tank. I treated with FWE also. I didn't have any casualties other than feather dusters. My clams were fine, as were all my other coral & fish. The key is to make sure you siphon out as many FW's as possible BEFORE treating with FWE.

BTW, never had another FW after that one treatment.

Good luck bro,

cool. mine keep coming back like a bad rash. so before the corals go over to the new tank they're getting nuked, then 1 drop a day for a week or so. It's easier to treat 25 gallons of water vs 70.

It's also better to treat a small population of FW's than a large population. A few dieing in your tank won't produce enough toxins to crash your system. A large population of them can crash it very quickly.

I would also use at least a dozen drops daily in a 58. If you don't have any FW's left to kill, the FWE won't have any effect on anything else in my experience. It's the dead FW toxins that have the negative impact. That's why it's so important to siphon out as many as you can before treatment.

I have also dealth with them... I agree with masterswimmer I Siphon as many as I can for 2 days then I did the FWE treatment. I did 30% water change and have lots of carbon ready. Then my last treatment was the sixline wrasse to clean up the remaining FW . it works for me HTH

thanks

Brett, its per amount of FW's you have and the toxins they release, not the FWE that kills your tank. Start siphoning them out for a few days before you dose and you won't have any problems except a fish that might think the dead ones that start to float are food and gets all sick and throws up on u a few times from the poison.
