You walk in a LFS ready to buy some fish but then you noticed there's at least one dead fish to every 3 tanks in the place. Others, not all, are scrapping like crazy because "ich" is present. Would you still buy from there or nah?

I wouldn't buy personally
But I was told all fish stores have ich
Plus there are deaths at every fish store
But if you do decide to buy the fish and the fish die and you go back and buy some more fish from the same place you are the idiot.
Go with your gut feeling

Not without a guarantee! I've never worked in a fish shop but I imagine it's not all sunshine and rainbows,, for example EVERY SINGLE STORE OR ONLINE VENDOR I've ever bought from in my life I've used the bag water and tested it. I've had healthy fish in substandard water and vice versa. That's why I only acclimate my fish if there's a big difference in salinity.

Ive worked in stores all my life but if someone doesn't stiff the fish in the morning someone is gonna see it. depends on the store and the fish system, but it shouldn't be hard to tell if the majority of the fish are sick

I prefer to bring home healthy fish, but I have brought home some fish that were in a lot worse shape than just ich if the price was right. I don't recommend this for newbies, but for me it's a challenge and rewarding to bring a fish back to health again. It's matter of having the proper equipment, medications etcc and luck. I don't know what my survival rate is, but it's pretty good. My most rewarding was a PBT that was malnourished and very thin with ich etcc. It lived for about seventeen years.

THATS AWESOME!!
Now that I think about it, a sick fish is kind of doomed because I don't expect a store to be able to give it the care it would need. Nothing against any store at all, but to revive a sick fish it def need some TLC.

When I had my tank I always did the same procedure.... First I would go to fish store and scope out all fosh.. I would never buy on first visit.. I would come back a week later and see if a fish I wanted last week is still there... If it is then hey +1 because the fish survived 1 week, so it should survive in my tank

Also I go by this
If 1 tabk has 6 fish... 1 fish has ich.... I consider that entire tank to be infested and basically no buy at all

Just my way haha

Stress is a huge factor in ich. Never buy a stressed out fish unless you QT, transfer that fish to QT overnight, really want the species and get a crazy good deal on it. If I can meet all 3 factors I would purchase.

Fish are always dying in the pet shops, they just scoop them out every day.
I feel the pet shop is where a fish needs to recover from their long trips and is their last real stop. If they don't recover under the expert care of the retailer, with all their resources, they won't make it in a home tank, and there's no reason for that fish to even move on. The home tank is where all the healthy , survival of the fittest, fish go.
