I would prefer HoB as it would be easier to clean.
Can also live with in sump if it fits...the sump is 13" high with headroom above it of an additional 6 inches at it's lowest point (a brace).
It's 19" at the lowest point under the stand due to the bracing under there.
Most of the area under the stand is 23" high that could be utilized for an in-sump model, including the wiggle room needed to lift the cup.
I have a CSS Skimmer. It's not the greatest of skimmers but it worked great on my 46g. The only reason I'm getting rid of it is my g/f got me a H&S for my B-day so it's just sitting looking for a new owner.
You want a HoB skimmer if you plan to use the sump as a fuge. You told me you were using a HoB skimmer. I did not build it to accomodate a skimmer, I don't think there is room for an in sump skimmer. I don't remember the dimesions of any of the chambers, we might be able to mount another baffle to run a skimmer in it, but I can't guarantee it.
Loveitsoft, Vision, what are the footprints of your skimmers?
Just to clarify -- Psycho Graphic designed & built my fuge for this tank based on a HoB skimmer that I already had. I have since discovered the skimmer I have is inadequate for this tank.
My fault!
If anyone else answers with an in-sump skimmer for sale, please list the dimensions of the footprint, if possible.
Psycho - I'll email you the chamber measurements. Thx!
