Looking for a slr camera used or new. Need one by July 13, it's the girls birthday. Problem is I don't have alot to spend. Needs it to be complete, good condition, does not have to be the best, just decent. let me know what you have, either here, or PM. If it's got a pretty penny price tag, don't bother. Can't dump hundreds and hundreds into this... Thanks all.

Or, what's recommended, or the CHEAPEST new slr?

You likely will not find anything under $400 with lens. Nikon D3000 or Canon 1000D are entry level slr's that cost about $400.
It's like like this fish hobby, the cost will add up, with lens and filters. but imo, maybe better off with a point-n-shot?
Hopefully someone here might have one that they don't use much, that would pass the deal along.

no point and shoot. have about 5 already. thats why i said used is fine.

what are the cameras called that looks like slr... but not? my girlfriends mother has one, its a nikon, looks 100% like a slr, but not changable lense. i dont care about changing lenses and all, just a camera that looks and acts like one with a very good picture quality. i just got a canon point and shoot. good camera, but never looks as clear as an slr imo

+1 it's going to be hard to find good used SLR Nikon or Canon, for less than $400. Becareful trying to find one cheap, make sure the seller is reputable and will stand behind his product. I recently got a Nikon D60 with extra lens, wireless remote w/carring bag but I got it from a co-worker. Still in all waiting for a macro lens for Father's Day to take real close-up pictures. Good Luck in your search.
